The listings below are fictional examples that show how a profile looks — real therapists appear here as they join.
Day spas, salons, sports therapists and therapists who do home visits all list the same way. Each new profile starts as New — not yet rated, then earns its scores from registered members who book.
Areas in grey don't have listings yet. They'll link here as therapists, day spas and salons in those areas join.
Sensunova's directory starts in the Western Cape, from the City Bowl and the Atlantic Seaboard out to the Northern Suburbs, the Helderberg and the Winelands. You might want a quick back and neck massage near the office, a therapist who brings the table to your home, or a slow afternoon at a day spa in Paarl. Either way, you can put therapists side by side, look at the ratings left by registered members who booked through Sensunova, and request a booking straight from the profile.
Not sure? Our guide to types of massage covers each one in more detail. The short version:
The easy place to start. Your therapist works with oil and long, even strokes at a medium pressure, and the whole point is to help you switch off. If you've never had a massage before, book this one.
Warm, smooth stones rest on your back and travel in the therapist's hands. The heat softens tight muscles quickly, so the massage feels deep without anyone pressing hard.
Slow, firm work on the layers under the surface: the knot between your shoulder blades, the lower back that stiffens after a long drive. It can be uncomfortable in places, so tell your therapist when to ease off.
Focused work on the muscles you use hardest, before an event or while you recover from one. Trail runners, cyclists and anyone training for a big race book it, not only professional athletes.
You stay fully clothed on a floor mat and there's no oil. The therapist uses palms, thumbs and body weight, and moves you through assisted stretches. Sessions tend to run longer than an oil massage.
Only registered members can rate a therapist, and only one they booked through their Sensunova account — one rating per therapist. A rating gives stars for getting there, the room, professionalism, care and attention, technique and overall, and can add any of ten fixed tags, such as "Firm pressure" or "Listened to what I wanted". A therapist who's new to Sensunova shows New — not yet rated until their first ratings are published. Sort by rating, narrow the list to therapists who are open tonight, do home visits or have a shower on site, and look at the body coverage map on each profile to see what their full body massage includes.
Each therapist sets their own prices and confirms what you'll pay when you request a booking. Nova, our paid membership, shows every therapist's price on the listing and lets you sort the list by price.
